Three months of Spanish. Two months at the gym. You stopped, and then it arrived.
You can't see muscle in two months. You can't hear a language in three. And the sixth month is when both of them start giving something back, which is exactly when you're no longer there.
That's the most expensive way to lose. Losing to difficulty would at least be respectable. This one is a timing problem.
Zhuangzi, in the first chapter, says this. If water isn't piled deep enough, it has no strength to float a big boat. Pour a cup of water into a hollow in the floor, and a mustard seed becomes a boat. Put a cup in the same hollow and it runs aground. The water is too shallow and the vessel is too big.
He isn't saying you lack ability. He's doing a sizing calculation and noticing that the two numbers don't match yet.
The mistake people make is to hear "not yet" as "no", and quit at the exact moment the water would have started carrying something.
If the thing hasn't worked yet, ask yourself honestly which is wrong, the depth or the boat. The answer changes what you do next week.
MOJOWAY is where I check the sizing instead of the ego. Sometimes growth looks like going smaller so it can start moving again.
