The new coach's first signed report

Field note, studio onboarding review

Every new coach at this studio writes their first client report in week three, and the senior coach reads it before it goes out.

That single practice replaced most of what the onboarding used to be. Two days of shadowing taught them the software. The report taught them whether they could think.

The good ones write a first line the client can use: one figure, what it means this month, one thing to watch. The ones who aren't ready write nine lines of numbers and a paragraph that could have been copied from a textbook.

The senior coach's feedback is always the same in the early weeks: you've told them what happened, now tell them what it means for their Tuesday.

Reports are also the only artifact of coaching that survives the session. Everything else a new coach does is witnessed in the room and then gone.

Which makes them the cheapest assessment in the business, and almost nobody uses them that way.

MOJOWAY's body kit gives a supervising coach a shared format to review against, so the feedback is about judgment instead of about how someone happens to write.
